A website redesign for The Princess Project, a nonprofit providing free prom dresses and accessories to high school teens in California.
The goal was to give the existing website a more modern, organized, and readable experience while maintaining the organization's existing pink-and-white branding.
The original website used images in the header and footer with text layered on top, which made some information difficult to read, particularly the contact section.
The website also used lowered-opacity imagery throughout the design, which made the overall experience feel darker and less vibrant.
I wanted to create a cleaner and more modern visual direction.
I initially experimented with pink text and imagery over a white background.
After receiving feedback during the work-in-progress critique, I divided the website into sections that alternate between pink and white.
This created a more structured layout where information is presented in clear blocks, helping users move through the page and understand how they can get involved.
I made sure the homepage communicated important information upfront, including:
What the nonprofit does
How to get involved
How to get in touch
Where to find additional information
I also emphasized the organization's mission and used clear navigation labels and buttons to help users find information about getting involved, joining, and contacting the organization.
I used navy blue for body text to complement the organization's logo and introduced the Omnes typeface.
To create hierarchy, I varied font sizes and weights, including:
Semi Bold · Medium · Regular
I also experimented with left, center, and right alignment to create visual variety.
Based on additional feedback, I incorporated geometric shapes such as diamonds as image frames to reinforce the visual identity.
For imagery, I used photographs from the nonprofit's social media pages and looked for additional images associated with the organization rather than relying on generic stock photography.
